FOB, CIF and landed cost explained

When you buy a used excavator from China, three terms come up. Knowing what each one includes stops surprises later.

  • FOB (Free On Board). The price of the machine loaded at the Chinese port named in the quote. It includes the machine, export handling and loading. Our listings show a specific FOB price per unit.
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight). FOB plus ocean freight and insurance to your destination port. It still does not include clearance, duty or delivery.
  • Landed cost. CIF plus duty, VAT, port charges and inland delivery - arranged on the import side.

Duty and VAT depend on your country and the HS code (revolving excavators are usually HS 8429.52). Your customs broker confirms the final figure. We quote FOB as standard and can add a CIF estimate; you keep control of clearance and delivery.
